How do I remove one audio track from a movie I downloaded without remuxing the entire thing?
>>
You don't.

Remuxing takes like 20 seconds tops anyway.

I've got a really slow hard drive which is why I'm asking. Thanks anyways.
>>
>>381941
Do you want to extract the track to use/save?
Or do you want to remove an unwanted audio track from the container?
>>
>>381941
How about downloading the track from the OST from the movie?
Wouldn't it be more convienient?
>>

The audio track OP is asking about is the audio for the whole movie. Spanish, English, French audio for the movie in the same mkv for example. Or director's commentary track.

I have a .mkv video (or actually several, but that's not important) that have 2 audio tracks: Russian & English. I want to remove the Russian audio track and leave only the English one, preferably without having to completely remux them all individually.
>>
>>382052
on vlc and mpc you can choose which audio track to play along with the movie
>>
>>382052
There's nothing I know of that's faster than remuxing.
>>
>>382054
Only problem is that the Russian track is the default track. So I guess I'm stuck remuxing them all?
>>

Isn't there a setting to make VLC default to English tracks? Regardless this sounds like overkill, since you can easily swap audio tracks.
>>
>>382117
I believe there is, but it would be a pain to reconfigure everytime I watched anything in a different language.
>>
If they are all done the same way, with English and Russian audio having the same track ID you could look into batch remuxing. mkvmerge is a command line tool originally, so if you do one on mkvmerge GUI you can go to the "Muxing" menu and copy the command line, then edit it from there with wildcards to make it process an entire folder.

Still takes the same time, but at least you can let it run for half a day while you're outside.

Use MPC-HC and tap 'a' when you load the file. Takes less than seconds and doesn't require you to do anything to the file. I don't know if VLC has this same kind of hotkey, I don't use it.
