I have not watched anime since 2014. Any essential slice of life/comedy animes I've missed out on?

^don't mind that; it's our resident meme answer xd
I hear Kemono Friends is a real stunner despite the animation

It may be a meme answer, but it actually makes sense for this one.
Also, while Kemono Friends is great, it's not really a slice of life.
OP, try New Game!
Yuru Yuri got three special episodes and a third season. The general feel of the new stuff is different to the first two seasons due to a change in studio and thus a major change in staff.
Kiniro Mosaic got a season two and a movie.
Ai Mai Mii got a third season and it's leagues better than that shitty second season.
Teekyu continues to endlessly pump out new seasons.
As for new stuff, I like Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Wakako-zake, I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying (2 seasons), and Danchigai.
There's also Himouto! Umaru-chan and Oshiete! Galko-chan, but they're both somewhat controversial. The former is the subject of endless shitposting (even more than normal), and in the latter they talk about hairy buttholes and periods and stuff.

Shirbako was fall 2014 so you might not have watch it. It's CGDCT about making anime.
Gakko Gurashi might be good. CGDCT but with zombies.
Yama no susume CGDCT but hiking. Second Season is out.
New Game. CGDCT about making games.
Frame Arms Girl this is actually better than Kemono Friends. CGDCT but with mini robot girls.
Princess Principal. CGDCT but with spies.
