It's calcified plaque, which means it's not going to go away on its own, and you need to scrape it off with something that's harder than it is, but softer than your teeth are.

Right. And if your try this at home you're just going to fuck up your teeth's enamel. Best you can do at home is use something soft like wood to scrap away at it. But you'll never be able to get I to the tight areas between the gums due to a lack of visual acuity.
