Bought an SSD to replace my old and slow HDD. I have a purchased windows license from when i built my PC a few years ago. It has since upgraded to Win 10. I don't have the license from when i originally installed windows. When i install the OS on my new SSD, does windows automatically know I have a license when i log into the PC for the first time under my hotmail? Thanks in advance.

as long as you've signed in with the same microsoft account on your computer that has it activated then it will activate on your new one when you sign in.

Thank you! That's what I thought. I already have a laptop and my main PC assigned to my microsoft account. Thanks again!
Also real quick. Planning on changing my old HDD to just a storage as my new SSD is 500gb and my HDD is 1tb. Once I install the SSD i can just reformat the HDD correct?
