Where can I play chess with somebody online without getting horrible viruses? Anything on Steam? Thanks

Tabletop simulator is a lovely game, and has what you're looking for. If you can't wait for the next steam sale, or it's too pricy - I've had great experiences on G2A. They're a "Grey-Market" key reseller, or at least that's what steam/valve calls them.
It is not against TOS to buy games like this, and I got both of the new Wolfensteins on G2A for the price of one.
I occasionally buy CSGO stuff and snatched Portal/Portal 2 on there last week.
Buying keys like this does undercut developers, but you shouldn't care about certain studios, especially in this case because TTS has been the same price since release and they milk it a lot with DLC.
Have fun, anon!

Oh yeah, ICC is a waaaaay more professional option. You can check out the demo for a month free.
After that it's about $100/year. Super worth it if you plan on learning aggressively or taking your playing crazy serious. I bought a sub for a year in high school for club. Dropped it after, but I achieved a really impressive skill level

I think lichess org is pretty safe? I'm not too sure, though.
