thanks, was asking this question because they say if you use Kodi and it's ad ons, it's best to use a VPN and I would be using it on my fire tv, so I guess there is no way

I don't think it's a big deal. With "Kodi" which is basically synonymous for pirated streaming, you are only receiving data. Not giving it out, like you('re supposed to) do in torrents. Not only is this treated as far lesser than giving the material to others, it's also harder/impossible for rightsholders to track you down and fine you - they'd rather punish the host site itself, if it isn't going a good job of screening for and removing copyrighted material.

I've heard plenty of people talk about using Kodi... way more than you might expect. And none of them have ever gotten in trouble with their ISP for it. That said, you could still be safer with a VPN and there are multiple legit uses for VPNs so IDK, do what you want.

Yes, this should work. Obviously, it only works as long as your computer is on.

Alternatively, you can set up a VPN on your wifi router. But that is a feature that most regular consumer routers do not support, so odds are this is not an option for you unless you buy a shiny new router.
