Is there another shounen similar to FMA? What I mean is I like the idea of shounens. You've got a colorful cast of characters, each with a different power and looks but there's a unifying style and aesthetic to it. Soul Eater is grafitty-halloweeny, One Piece is cartoony-piraty, JoJo is pulp stories brought to life ets. The thing is I usually don't like the formula of the plot just seeming to be only a pretext for fighting.
What I liked in FMA was that there was a very strong plot besides the characters trying to improve their fighting skills. They wanted to reverse their mistakes and just as a result they got tied into a whole web of conspiracies which would sometimes lead to fights. It all felt fairly natural, compared to something like Hunter x Hunter where the characters just fight because that's what the plot randomly demands.

Trigun started life as a shounen manga. To the extent the anime follows the earlier parts, it probably counts.

Well, I have watched Trigun. But I've seen a lot of seinen, while I haven't too much shounen. So I'd rather look for those.

Toriko.The show has one of the most consistent story lines, that is, to get their hands on the finest and the most exotic food ingredients in the World. This includes also the most consistent tracker/hunter/killer adventurer themes there is today.
Certainly the story takes them here and there to do this and that to make it happen, but it's still absolutely constantly on target.
Toriko is also an excellent classical shounen in the sense that Good is good, and Evil is evil. The popularity of the show has realized 147 episodes so far. Just hang your brains on a hat rack and start watching. It's so intensive and macho it's almost gay, kek.
