It's difficult to compete with someone's personal fetish at this level. Usually you have to include way more drama and everything fantastical just to sell it.

Kimi ni Todoke. I also have seen Tsuki ga Kirei. I sorta laid the foundation at MyAnimeList to connect these two animes. They are not the same, but may appeal to the same audience. So there.
