I'm sick of this happening to me
i often have over 80+ tabs open and have less tabs open does fucking nothing, if I end task for one tab, suddenly another tab will shoot up to 400+ when it was only 30 MB earlier
Is there a solution besides getting more RAM/closing tabs? Note that all these tabs are threads in chrome using 4chanX

Chrome has a built in task manager, shift+esc, try using that to see what tab is eating a lot of your ram, You could also look into tab suspender extensions, (My favorite is TheGreatSuspender) which will suspend tabs that you haven't used in a while to save ram.
Also see if theres anything else on your system using your memory because usually chrome is good about freeing memory when it needs to. Use the windows resource monitor and see if theres anything else thats eating your ram.

Use a browser that doesn't think it's necessary to open a new process for every single tab it has open.

firefox
But it has it's memory leakage issues too.

In case anyone has wondered about this, I opened up 77 tabs in Chrome and it used most of my memory. I have 12Gig of RAM.
The moral is, buy a few more Gig of RAM or don't open a fuckton of tabs in Chrome.

Chrome's V8 engine is designed to use a lot of RAM when nothing else is using it.
>insert unused ram is wasted ram meme
Chrome will scale to however much ram you have and try to use it to its best extent, its usually really good about freeing memory when other applications need it.
Try opening 77 tabs in chrome then starting a video game or other RAM heavy program and see how much RAM chrome uses then.
