IT fags I need your help.
I dropped my hard drive on the floor pretty hard and now it's not working. When I plug it into my computer it shows up as "Local Disk" and I can't access it to format it or scan it. I tried some free recovery programs online but the programs don't even recognise the disk drive. Tried on my laptop as well but it's the same problem.
I opened it up but didn't notice any external damage so it must be the shit inside that's broken. Is there anyway to fix this or recover my data? I had a lot of shit on it so help would be much appreciated

tl;dr dropped hard drive, how fix?

Pic related, it's a WD Passport Ultra model.

you could try removing the drive from the enclosure and connecting it to another sata-to-usb interface, like pic related. then plug it into the USB cable and cross your fingers.

Most modern ones don't have a SATA/USB interface.

The drive is probably FUBAR. If you really want to get the data back, boot into a live Linux image and try to see if that recognize the disk. Use TestDisk to try and recovery any paritions on the drive, PhotoRec is also really powerful if TestDisk doesn't work. There's lots of guides to recover data on Linux, use them.
Dropping a mechanical Drive is usually a death sentence for them, next time BACKUP your shit.

Worst possible thing, kiss that shit goodbye senpai. The same thing happened to me when I dropped mine like 50cm.

It's fucked, I even brought it to the hardware store and they couldn't recover it without it costing hundreds of dollars since specialized data recovery is expensive. Hope you didn't have anything important.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
