Unless your Mobo doesn't have a 16x slot (which it will if it was made in the last 10 years) then 1050ti will work fine.
1050ti also only needs 6pin power connector so even if your PSU is garbage you will be fine.

1050Ti doesn't need *any* power connector: it's powered through the 24-pin ATX connector.

There are one or two OEM variants with a six-pin, but the reference design doesn't include one.

Oh shit you are right, I always mix up having a six-pin with having a 8pin.
The dude probably bought a second hand pc, what gpu he should get is probably dependent on how long mining lasts, if the crash continued (which it hasnt) I would recommend buying an ex-mining 480/570/580, the dude might just play overwatch anyway so doesn't need a $300+ gpu.

Hey good luck wherever you're at in life right now pal. I think cryptocurrency machines are cooling down and prices for used GPUs are going down too, so maybe wait it out and try living to eat more
