That was my guess. King of the Hill doesn't seem like a show that would have been a big hit outside of the US.

The characters are relatable even outside the US.

The issue was that it didn't have a consistent atmosphere or writing team. It wasn't sure whether it was dramedy, black comedy or sitcom. I imagine it really didn't help that Mike Judge washed his hands of it.
