Does anyone know how to solve the issue of a Windows update freezing during the update? It's happened twice; both times the update stops at 87% and I restart my computer and Windows goes back to an earlier version. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, for me, plugging in the ethernet cable and taking it off wifi meant the installation could check for updates successfully instead of failing and timing out. But that was a laptop, not sure if this will help in your situation.
theres directories that start with "$". delete and try again.

Like $Extend?
you might have to go into folder options and turn on show hidden files/folders.
