Moving an old desk from my room, I found this jack in the wall. I don't know much about setting up routers, but what is this exactly? My ethernet cable doesn't fit.
Is it a data cable for broadband? Want to know if I could use it for something.

its a jack for one of these things. ain't gonna work with a ethernet cable (for one thing the jack is a rj11 not a rj45) since the wire is only analog telephone grade and is not cat5 or higher. if you want cat5 your gonna have to hire a person to rewire it.

Looks like a [single] telephone jack, into which somebody has plugged an ADSL line splitter/filter; one side goes to the ADSL modem/router and the other goes to the phone shown in >>330837.
