it's definitely one of the best.

there is lots of anime that has the same level of emotion, they just usually aren't also cgdct.
maybe try So Ra No Wo To. I haven't finished it but it's good so far

I've already saw Madoka and it didn't quite hit me as much K-On did, though it had some moments. Though Sound Euphonium does look very similar to K-On, albeit a more serious version.
