Hello /wsr/,
I'm wondering if there is a way to move all of the files from these folders into one folder without having to do it manually. I ran photorec on a dead PC and I have to sift through 100k+ files. Using batch/python scripts is not out of the question, I just don't know how to make one that would help me. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

open main folder
ctrl+f (search bar)
type * (show every file)
sort by type
ctrl+x (cut) - go to one folder - ctrl - v (paste)

Wow, thanks a lot. I didn't even think about that. Works like a charm.

how?
use your brain. do the same thing but first copy a manageable amount of folders onto a new one, so you don't run out of memory, depending of the amount of files you'll have to do it a few times.
You can do this with command prompt using a for /r
here's what you can do:
create a batch file (aname.bat), put it in your parent directory
put the following line in it
for /r %%q in (*.png, *.jpg) do move "%%~fq" .
(the period at the end goes in the line)
This will move all pngs and jpgs from the folder, and all subfolders, into the main folder.
You can specify a path in quotation marks in place of the . at the end to have it put those files in a specific place
you can also change or add extensions to make it move other file types.
