DESPERATE
I just finished a 40 page paper and only after printing it did I realize a normal staple isn't going to cut it.
How the fuck do you bind this many pages together?

Multiple staples on smaller subsets of pages and staple those together || hole punch it and stick it in a binder || stick it in a portfolio folder.

Get an electric stapler or call your Fedex/Staples to see if they offer binding services.
When this happened to me, I split the pages into ~20 pages, hole punched them, scavenged three of pic related and looped them through.
The same works if you use some nice twine/wire (though don't use paper clips since that looks pretty unprofessional)

When I was in college, one of the libraries had an extra large & powerful stapler with staples big and sturdy enough to punch through 40-50 pages. It had an extended handle to use as a lever well beyond the part where the staples come out. Have you checked to see if yours has anything similar?

but those are folded
for the full size paper
you'd need to make dents on the edge for strings and use (flexible) glue to keep the strings in dents and less flexible glue on the whole edge

Libraries typically have big power staplers just for this purpose, monsters with a long lever and special long clips.
