if i am seeing correctly on this potatoe of a photo you only have two pins. to you see the metal clips inside ? just try red on the left, black on the right. if it doesn't work try it the other way round.
the inner filling of the cable (copper) has to touch the metal clip inside !!

i would also try and clean the little metal clips with some sandpaper or a small wirebrush. also check for other damage.

anons i just found another similar conection but the cooper doesnt seem to touch the metal clip... its more like it only serves as a clip and the cooper wire enters deep in the accesory which is full of gel

oh my bad. gel is against corrosion if i am correct. let's get back to your other connector. open it up. make a better photo. we can find this out. i am confident.

i am sure you can figure it out yourself with the new knowledge from the other connector

so, is this dialup or (a)dsl?
back when i had adsl2+ it was the outer pair that provided it, and the inner pair only did dialup 56k (+ phone). not sure if it is the same deal over there
