Grammar Question:
ate the following sentences past tense?
or is past mixed with present?
1) The dwelling swayed, gliding closer to the wall.
2) The dwelling swayed and began to glide closer to the wall.
I changed the original sentence so they sound dumb.
1 can be read as past or past progressive. 2 is past.

so the fact that glide is a present word doesnt change the sentence to present? because it had the began as the sort of main verb right?

Glide isn't conjugated in either sentence. In the first, it's a participle, which is a verbal adjective, modifying "dwelling". In the second sentence, it's in the infinitive. In neither case does it affect the tense of the sentence as a whole.

Not him, but a textbook/handbook that has never let me down is The Little, Brown Handbook. It has everything you need to learn or improve your English. 11th edition has served me well, idk if there's a newer one, though.
