How do I square a large bracket in Equation mode in Microsoft Word?
If I insert the bracket first then the exponent it expects a new value after the bracket but before the exponent.
If I insert the bracket after the equation it expects a new value inside the bracket between the fraction and the bracket.
The only way I can exponent a bracket is to use small brackets which looks terrible when using fractions. Surely there's a way to do this.
You could try using the math input panel, a windows default program that lets you draw the equation and paste it in word. It can be obnoxious to use sometimes but it could solve the issue here.

The shittiness of Word for math is legendary. that's why for math heavy texts you use LaTeX.
Can't you highlight the whole equation and choose the exponent box in the Equation ribbon?
Pic related.

YES! I didn't realize you can highlight something then select a script to fill.

Doesn't work, I have to be able to send this for groups and create good looking documents to print out at school. On a limited personal basis Latex can be good but I can't expect it to be well received by everyone. Learning how to manage Word is essential in most fields. It is simply the world we live in.

Google Drive supports a sort of latex-based equation inputter and lets you export to .doc.
