I am looking for people who know more than me about pc/pc building to guide me or at least critique my build. It will be my first build, but it has everything I need. I am thinking of lowering the quality of the processor and gpu to bring down the price. Help please

Also, I realized that I would need 3 USB ports for the Mic, and KBM. Would a product like this from amazon work with my pc?

Looks quite good. You may not play the newest games on highest settings but it is rather powerful.
Don't forget you power supply, about 500W should be enough.
You could think about 2x4GB RAM instead of 1x8GB because dual channel provides more power as single channel.
Also you have enough USB-Ports. Why bother with a USB-hub? But if you want, there should be no problem.
But one question. Which games do you want to play? Because a 144Hz monitor is only worth his specs if you can play with 144fps. For newest games your pc may not strong enough to generate 144fps alltime. But if you play games like LoL or CSGO 144Hz would be worth.
>>
>>284992
Mainly plan on playing csgo and some Dota 2. How many years do you think my setup would be viable for before a necessary upgrade, and how do 144hz monitors behave with Xbox one? Thanks for your help
>>
>>284887
Why is it that in all of these threads PCPartpicker says in huge letters in the top-right "270W" or similar, and yet I know before I scroll down it will say "Bronze 550W Semi-modular power supply"?

Does everyone think something like "well, TDP has been going down steadily for ten years now, and SLI is being steadily phased out, but maybe next year there'll be a GPU that uses 400W, and boy would I feel silly"?

For CSGO and Dota it may be last for eternity. These games won't tickle your setup. Looking at the progress of actual games, you may play on high settings for 2 years I would say but that's a difficult thing to answer.
>XBox and monitor
I don't get the question. Moreover I have to knowledge about xbox.

>>285007
Who cares about 200W or 500W? Try to buy a 270W power supply. I'm quite sure you'll pay less for 500W because it is common and cheaper bc of that. I don't really care about the electricity bill. Acutally using a 750W power supply for just one RX480. And this pc is 24/7.

There was clearly a keyboard error. I have no knowledge about xbox.
>>
Only one fan is included, id recommend getting at least one more. nothing wrong with cooled components.
You have 6 USB ports on the mobo. you shouldnt need for any more.
And a tip when building, dont skip out on cable management. with a smaller case like that, having cables organized will make it look better and help airflow.
>>
So from what I've read from you helpful people is, I should get a fan, it should last me two years for heavy games. Also my question about the Xbox was how would it look on a 144hz monitor?
>>
>>284887
>I am thinking of lowering the quality of the processor and gpu to bring down the price

I'd do this to it.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GNTXWX

Saved ~$70 by replacing the riceponents with equivalent or better components that aren't fancy colours, and $130 replacing the middle-of-the-road i5 with that Pentium that's inexplicably good at gaming.

Spent ~$140 of that on a more energy-efficient power supply, 16GB of dual-channel RAM, and a 2TB hard disk with an embedded 8GB SSD.

Now the CPU is a bit of a controversial choice, but check out reviews like http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-intel-pentium-g4560-budget-cpu-king-review : it gets you 80% of the performance of your i5, for 31% of the price.

Does xbox even support 144Hz? I thought there is only 60Hz support. Besides this it should work properly. I don't know where you live but if summer is very hot, you should think about a seccond fan. Maybe a 120mm or 140mm at the front or back. They are cheap, 5 to 10€/$ and you will have silent but powerful one.
>>
>>285028
144Hz monitors can also run at 60Hz, so it will look just fine.

You won't be playing 4k Netflix or 4k YouTube on it, because it's not a 4k monitor.
>>
>>285029
>>285030
Nice I was considering a pentium but people are so adamant about not picking one for gaming. I see people say shit "never recommend a 2 core for gaming" but I might go for this. Can I upgrade easily to a i5 or i7 from here? And also this may sound n00by but how the fuck would I add fans to the case? Thanks again all of you for helping out
>>
>>285032
Okay thanks. Also what board should I be on for questions like this? Don't make me go on leddit I don't want a transgender CPU and a power supply that tells allah Akbar before it blows my house to saw dust
>>
>>285013
>who cares about 200W or 500W
Someone whose OP explicitly mentioned "bringing down the price"?

Just a thought.
>I'm quite sure you'll pay less for 500W because it is common and cheaper bc of that
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QjmLrH/zalman-power-supply-zm400le

Just saved you 30% by speccing the PSU right. If you just accepted 40% bloat like that because for every component you thought "meh, it's only an X, it's not worth looking that hard to save $20", it would add up to hundreds of wasted dollars.
>>
>>285039
Thanks a lot, I was looking for a power supply that was closer to the estimated wattage
>>
>>285037
You should go on this board. It says right there in >>1 that this is the board for questions like yours.

Well this pentium isn't a bad idea. You wouldn't notice fps drops. For a new i7 of whatever generation above the 6th you will need a new board.

>>285037
>Don't make me go on leddit I don't want a transgender CPU and a power supply that tells allah Akbar before it blows my house to saw dust
Kek'ed hard.

>>285039
>Someone whose OP explicitly mentioned "bringing down the price"?
You took this very well out of context.

>Zalman power supply.
I'm quite sure OP mentioned something about power supply here
>a power supply that tells allah Akbar before it blows my house to saw dust

Actually I can understand your point and of course you are right. Otherwise I have personal experience that's why I am prejudiced.
Bought custom 980 that exceeds over 350W from 180W tdp. Knocked my power supply out bc I wanted to be a scrimper.
Seccond time bought a noname power supply, killed my 980. That's why I go bigger and more expensive with branded power supply.

So if all you helpful m8s could come to a consensus what would it be? the Pentium? Or should I go back to the i5-7500 or another processor. Also wondering how a 4560 acts with a 1060.

if you want to bring down the price you should ditch the 144hz monitor

See I thought about that, but I don't want to have one buy a 144hz in 2 yrs from now once the 60hz gets completely phased out and I heard it really improves your game as well

Please tell me why I am actually wrong. Many people say all over the internet that 144hz made them play better "smooth as butter frames" "2 inches in 2 weeks" etc. why should I drop to 60hz?
>>
>>285071
Something that will make a difference: the framerate achieved by your computer. Most games only accept input on frames, whether they are displayed or not, so having low-ish fps will make your input jittery. This is because mice have a very high polling rate relative to how many frames your computer produces, at least in modern, high load games. This is why, when you want to get good at FPSes, you turn off v-sync.

Things that are largely irrelevant: displayed framerate, which only affects what you see. People can tell the difference between 60hz and 144hz from looking at it. However, the distance that the guy you're shooting at moves in that half frame is so irrelevant to your aim.
>>
>>285073
I should say that a good excuse to buy a 144hz monitor is so you can have a high framerate with v-sync enabled if you have issues with screen tearing etc.

Two cores is not enough for gaming, and Pentiums have two cores. That's the general consensus.

This Pentium, however, has two cores plus Hyperthreading, making it identical to an i3-7300T. The only difference between the G4560 and the i3-7300T is that the i3-7300T has better on-board graphics (which you're not going to be using because you have a GPU).

In Hyperthreading, each core pretends to be two cores, and harvests instructions from both threads to keep its execution units busier. Depending on how compatible the two threads are with being hyperthreaded, a hyperthreaded processor can be 40-80% faster than a plain single core.

Games are incredibly compatible with hyperthreading, because they're all written and optimised for consoles (which all have hyperthreaded processors*) before being ported to PC. The most important bits of AAA games are hand-optimised for hyperthreaded processors, to get as close to the theoretical maximum as humanly possible. This means that adding hyperthreading makes your processor massively better at games.

I don't think your i5 is $130 better than a G4560. I think you should get the Pentium.

* AMD's marketing team will say "they're totally real actual cores REE", but they're not, and if they were, they wouldn't currently be fighting a class-action lawsuit about saying that.
>>
hard to say honestly, I might cut it down to a 60hz monitor and dump the savings into more memory up to 16gb or an aftermarket cooler or a small SSD for boot or an optical drive

you could look at other cpus as mentioned above, even i3s generally are okay for most games. if it were me though I would stick with a quad core, the dual cores are not very future proof and would end up at the top of your upgrade list

you should consider waiting to purchase until april sometime when the new ryzen chips come out. I would stay away from buying an AMD GPU but the r5 series looks pretty competitive, cpu-side
>>
>>285081
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bwxy3F

It's $1092.18 instead of $964.97, because it has:

- 16GB dual-channel instead of 8GB single-channel
- 2TB SSHD instead of 1TB HDD
- $400 G-Sync monitor instead of $190 fixed-framerate monitor.

This monitor can go up to 185Hz, and it has an unlocked framerate, so it avoids all the issues in >>285073. It'll last you at least a decade, and as PCs get better so will it.
>>
>>285097
>>285086

Okay, think I'm going to think about the pentium vs i5, and I think I will be upgrading the monitor as an anon here said. I still don't get the whole storage thing and ssd > hd but I will also consider the "hybrid" firecuda another anon suggested. Thanks a lot guys for your time, sorry for my noobish questions
