LWA's animation is nothing special outside of a couple nice scenes really. And it still has quite a bit of that trademark low budget Trigger animation employed for comedic effect. In terms of animation quality, Gabriel Dropout and Maid Dragon are both higher quality, though considering the studios for both shows that's not a surprise.

Also, LWA actually has a very large budget compared to normal TV anime productions, certainly larger than Maid Dragon and probably more than Gabriel Dropout too. KyoAni shows are actually pretty famous for having relatively small budgets, what keeps the quality high is careful in-house animation, which generally results in more effort by the animators. Trigger follows their Gainax tradition of subcontracting stuff out to ensure they stay under budget, since I'm guessing that just like Gainax they have a tendency to go over budget if left to their own devices and subcontracting is how they avoid that.
