Is there any sci-fi anime that focus more on the daily life in their universe instead of mecha battles? Some action is fine but it would be better if it's not the main focus of the series. Looking for something a bit different.
Dennou Coil is an anime about augmented reality and artificial intelligents and it thoroughly explores its concept while also developing its characters and a nice story.
Could this be something you are looking for?

I just remember that Neo Ranga is probably that with mecha!
>An ancient God called Ranga awakens on an isolated island in the South Pacific where it has been slumbering forgotten by mankind. Three sisters living in Tokyo – Minami, Ushio and Yuuhi Shimabara discover they have inherited this Island Kingdom, along with the huge God. When Ranga shows up in Tokyo, it soon becomes a source of wonder and conflict for the three sisters that control Ranga, the people who want to destroy it, and ones who want to use it.
It's a weird thing that covers all sorts of topics like kaiju, action, comedy, drama, slice-of-life, …yakuza?!
And for Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, read the manga if anything.
