Hey
I'm struggling to grasp this concept: If I am to redraw a dining room with dimensions of 16' - 4'' x 13' - 0''
How would I redraw this to scale? I'm using a standard 1/16 ruler and I have no other tools. Could someone please walk me through this? I'm having a hard time finding this out on my own.
Picture's related, but it's not what I'm working on.

>to scale
to what scale?

Take the leths of the walls and multply by the scaling factor to get the new legths. Start with the longest wall you draw somewhere on your paper. If you just have a ruler the right angles will be difficult thoughm th room will likely look crooked. A geodreieck would be handy or at least a compass.

I'm not sure?
My instructor asked us to take two rooms, I.e Living room and family room and scale them down, I understand what to do once I have the numbers, but I'm not sure how to determine those numbers. For example, how would I re-scale a living room so that I could measure it using 1/16. How would I even begin that kinda process?

Most blueprints I've have seen use a 1/4 rule, 1/4 inch = 1 foot for scale

you mean a 1:16 scale?
ie. a 1/16 of an inch would be 1 foot for real
that would be way too small, try 1:4, or 1/4 inch equals 1 foot

16' - 4'' x 13' - 0''
16 x 1/4 = 4 inches
1/3 foot x 1/4 = 1/12 inch (approx 1/16)
13 x 1/4 = 3 1/4 inches
end result = 4 1/16" by 3 1/4"
