physically large countries that are pro-business(anti-consumer)

that graph strongly correlates with country population and density

>strongly correlates
Which is why India and the PRC are at the bottom amirite
>>
>>272424
yeah, massive populations

>massive populations
Oh, you mean like Bahrain and Tunisia?

What he meant was that population is pretty distributed in those countries. China in particular has enormous rural communities.

India may have hellishly overpopulated cities but its landscape is also filled with tons of small towns and cities. The recent film Lion even kind of highlights that fact.

Incidentally, this graph is kind of vague because it doesn't really provide any information about how the data was gathered or what the data even is. An average? I guarantee I get better internet in Dallas, Texas (a major hub for ISPs and servers) than some poor fuck in the middle of the Rockies.

India and China are both huge land masses with tons of rural communities that get little or no internet access at all. Averages drag them down. Same in the US, though even in urban areas US service is extremely mediocre due to mismanaged fiber lines and regional monopolies creating zero incentive for telecom companies to provide competitive service.

Look at the top countries on that list: Korea, Japan, Sweden, Lithuania, Netherlands. Tiny countries with most of the population gathered in major cities less than 100 miles apart from each other. No shit they can afford to have excellent internet access to most of their people.

US installed shitty lines very early on in the internet's lifetime and didn't upgrade them much
countries that added internet infrastructure later have more modern equipment

but mostly it's because ISPs in US/CA are monopolies or oligopolies and don't have to care about improving their service because they have few/no competitors
most homes only have 1 or 2 ISPs who can provide service to them, so their choice is "pay too much for shit service" or "no internet at all"
