Im trying to do a clean install of windows 7 on a brand new custom built pc. I downloaded all the files onto a usb and am currently trying to install it onto my pc, but for some reason this message keeps popping up. I have no idea why I cant find my hd or my ssd and all i want to do is finish the installation. This is typically as far as i get before i give up and google the issue. I havent found any solutions to this problem yet. My components are an i7 6700k, an asus z-97a motherboard, and 16 gb of ram. >formatted an 8 gb usb

The USB port you're using is 3.0. probably blue. You need to use a different usb port. Most likely black. just keep booting up like you have been but trying each usb port.
those usb 3.0 ports only have drivers to use them when Windows has booted up and loaded. Windows isn't installed yet. It's a chicken and egg thing. you need to use the other usb ports 2.0.
