Just based on that image Aquarion Logos sounds like a steaming pile. Star Driver was rather stupid and SEED was nothing but whiny brats.
I'd personally recommend Gundam Wing, which can get bogged down in it's own political story, but is none the less really fucking good. A really solid new show, in my opinion, was Iron-Blooded Orphans. The combat was superb and introduced a much more realistic seeming piloting system for how Gundams have such fluid and human movement rather than clunky robotic movement.
Without any specific order:
>NHK ni Youkoso!
A comedy-drama exploring some serious issues such as the NEET lifestyle, mental illnesses and suicide. A 4chan classic.
>Kaiji
A psychological anime depicting the story of a low-life getting caught in a series of unfair gambles. It took me a while to realize it, but there are absolutely no women in the entire anime.
>Oregairu
The development of a few characters through their growing relationships and responsibilities. I know it is a common thematic in anime, but I never saw it presented as well as in this one.
>Aku no Hana
The fall of a quiet student into deviancy as he is blackmailed by the class' black sheep. A lot of people don't like the unusual artwork, but it goes really well with the story.
>FLCL
A wacky anime extremely short. I only started to have a sense of what was happening at the end of the 6th episode, that is the last one. The anime studio worked in collaboration with a rock band. I don't think I would have watched the anime without the music or listened to the music without the anime but together, they are perfect.
>Tatami Galaxy
This is a non-linear story. We explore every possible angle of a small, yet very interesting world.
>Kill la Kill
Another wacky action anime. It's completely absurd, just like FLCL, but very well done.

Where does half this stuff happen, or does it happen in the anime and I'm really stupid
>>266192
it all happens in the anime and that's not counting the adopted monster of the week child, the Ghostbuters parody, the moral of threesomes, and Karen being a charming schmuck with her hammer
