Need help with a math problem.

I have a grid that is 1920 x 1080 pixels. I need to fill this grid with 16x16 pixel square tiles, but the tiles need to be evenly spaced.

What calculation will fit the tiles whilst also being spaced evenly?
>>
Oh, I suppose I will need to be able to make the tiles smaller. That's no problem, but I just have no idea how to do it.
>>
15 is a factor of both 1920 & 1080. You could do 15 x 15 squares, in a grid of 128 x 72.

That doesn't make it evenly spaced. I need space between the tiles.
>>

what? do 14x14 with a one pixel gap, maybe. i'm not sure what you mean here

14 x 14 touches the right border. I want an evenly spaced grid of tiles; that's as simple as I can put it.
>>
I just wrote a program to work it out:

Enter Width: 1920
Enter Height: 1080
Sucessful. Box Size: 12 Gap Size: 2 Width: 137.0 boxes. Height: 77.0 boxes.
Sucessful. Box Size: 5 Gap Size: 2 Width: 274.0 boxes. Height: 154.0 boxes.
Sucessful. Box Size: 12 Gap Size: 9 Width: 91.0 boxes. Height: 51.0 boxes.
Press any key to continue . . .

This should make it an even gap on each side of all the boxes

120 x 120 pix tiles, 16 x 9 tiles
40 x 40 pix tiles, 48 x 27 tiles
20 x 20 pix tiles, 96 x 54 tiles
10 x 10 pix tiles, 192 x 108 tiles

Thank you very much. Using 20 x 20, how many pixels between each tile?

Actually, this is for a checkerboard, not a spaced grid. For a spaced grid, use 5x5 pix squares with 2 pix spacing.
