I'm coming back from a two year hiatus of watching anime/lurking /a/. I was looking for recommendations on what the most memorable anime of the past seasons from the last two years have been according to you or /a/ in general. Not looking for any specific genre or anything like that. Thank you/

On a side note: I don't know what has happened since the switch of 4chan's ownership but I think I recall Hiroyuki implementing an anime recommendations board for a bit? I don't know what happened to it but I guess it looks like he's combined that board with other requests and made this one then separated the porn aspect of /r/ into another. It's looking like a great change from what I see.
>>
/wsr/ is the anime recommendations board, basically. This board was initially requested because /r/ was almost nothing but porn anyway, and since /a/nons always redirected anime requests to /r/ it made it hard to actually make that a practical solution. So /wsr/ was born. Tech support and home work help make up a sizeable part of the board too, but anime recommendations remain a staple here.

Anyway, 2 years was it? I'll just go down and see what I recall watching. Starting with Winter 2015:
>Jojo Part 3's conclusion
>Tsukimonogatari
>Koufuku Graffiti
>Yuri Kuma Arashi
Overall a pretty lameduck season, none of those are really "big hits" but more continuations of popular franchises or stuff that people really liked at the time.

Spring 2015:
>Shokugeki no Souma
>Oremonogatari (not related to the Monogatari franchise)
>Ninja Slayer From Animation
>Fate/Stay Night UBW 2nd half
>new Gintama season
>Arslan Senki (same author as Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but set in ancient notPersia)
>Kekkai Sensen (started out real strong, but final episode got delayed like 6 months and destroyed all hype the show had)
>Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru s2
>DanMachi (flavor of the month, but Hestia memes still sometimes get posted)

Summer 2015 (this one had a lot of good ones)
>Yuru Yuri S3
>Working!! S3
>Sore ga Seiyuu!
>Shimoneta
>Overlord
>Non Non Biyori S2
>Monster Musume
>GATE
>Gakkougurashi
>Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei Hertz!

Fall 2015
>Young Black Jack
>Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen (sequel to the 2006 anime)
>Owarimonogatari
>Shoumin Sample
>One Punch Man (this is probably the hit anime of the entire year)
>Noragami Aragoto
>Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans (kind of meh, but it actually aired on Toonami last year, the first Gundam series to do so in several years)
>Lupin III 2015 (new series set in Italy)
>Little Witch Academia: the Enchanted Parade (second movie)
>GochiUsa s2

Will do 2016 in next post

Winter 2016
>Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
>KonoSuba (dark horse favorite of the season, second season airing right now actually)
>Kizumonogatari 1: Tekketsu-hen (yes, Kizu came out)
>Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
>Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
There's a few other shows I could've put here, but I realized they're getting kinda long so I'll be more discriminating in 2016.

Spring 2016
>Space Patrol Luluco (possibly Trigger's best anime to date)
>Mayoiga (trainwreck/disappointment of the season, watch it just to say you lived through it)
>Kuma Miko (if not for Mayoiga this would've been the biggest disappointment)
>Koutestujou no Kabaneri (a blatant Attack on Titan ripoff that is actually better than the original)
>Kiznaiver
>Jojo Part 4
>Flying Witch
>Re:Zero

Summer 2016
>New Game!
>Mob Psycho 100 (same author who did One Punch Man)
>Amaama to Inazuma
>91 Days

Fall 2016
>Drifters
>Keijo
>Flip Flappers

Gonna be perfectly honest, I didn't watch a whole lot of anime the last couple seasons, much less than I normally do, so somebody else can probably give you a more complete picture of the latter half of 2016.

Well, nonetheless, I really appreciate the help. There's a lot I missed and that helped.
>>
>>263774
I used a very broad interpretation of memorable here, if you wanted to whittle it down to stuff people still talk about in 10 years you'd get less than 10 names, probably 5 or less.
>>
>>263777
Nope, that was perfect. I didn't want stuff people would be talking about in years to come be honestly, I didn't expect any to have come out, but since you mentioned 5 or less, what do you consider one, or some, to be?
>>
>>263779
These for sure:
>One Punch Man
>Jojo Part 4
>Kizumonogatari
>F/SN UBW
>Lupin III

Though most of those are part of well established franchises that I don't see going anyway any time soon, so really it's just OPM as the standout. And man did it ever stand out. The stars aligned for that anime to be made. Glorious OST, glorious animation, fantastic seiyuu lineup.

Personally, I feel like most of Trigger's anime are going to be remember for a long time. Luluco and LWA in particular.
>>
>>263791
Lupin? Really? I never watched it but I've heard it mentioned. Should I start?
>>
>>263793
It's a fantastic series. I think the Castle of Cagliostro movie is a good introduction to the franchise, Hayao Miyazaki actually directed that one. The 70s TV anime is also pretty good. You don't really need to watch anything else to understand the 2015 anime though, since Lupin III has always been kinda episodic.
>>
>>263794
Hm.. Looks fucking intimidating. There's like a million Lupins.
>>
>>263798
A lot of those are specials and movies. For TV series, the original 1971 anime is probably my favorite. The '77 TV anime has a fuckton of episodes that I'm not sure were entirely translated into English. I still haven't watched nearly all of them. Have only watched a smattering of the specials and movies too, so don't feel like you have to go through all of it.
