Can someone refresh my memory of how to solve cubic equations? Like -x^3+6*x^2+15*x+8

Lean how to factor cubics. Admittedly, you won't use it as much as other techniques, but occasionally you'll come across problems where it's handy to know.

How did you know (-x+8) would factor out?
>>260246
That (x^2-1) meant to be (x-1)^2, my bad.

I'm not going to lie to you, friend, I just eyeballed it and adjusted it so it would be correct if I foiled the two out. I knew I would need a -x^3 at the start, and an 8 at the end, so I just worked from there. Doesn't always work, but it's a quick sloppy way to deal with it.

So there's no actual method to easily do it like there is for quadratics, I just have to eyeball it?

There are a few methods, like synthetic division, but I honestly didn't memorize it and found it faster my own way. I do recommend looking more into this subject if you can't work the relation between line 1 and line 2 since "eyeballing" is sort of a dirty roundabout method.
