Are there any similar 'comic reading' sites, like mangastream, mangafox, mangalife
but for western comics?
(If not what are some good ad-free sites to download them?)
Online reading sites don't really exist for printed Western comics, given the increased copyright scrutiny. Lurk /co/'s win-o threads for download links. Search /co/'s archives for any particular comics.

You really shouldn't use any of those sites, unless you actively prefer lq scans.
Every single site that I've seen, which offers American comic books to read online, were shut down rather quickly.

There aren't such things as hq scans, so the issue is moot.
Mangas are printed in monochrome, 2500x4000. Anything less than that is a low-quality scan. Anything in greyscale is a low-quality scan. Anything where you can't see the actual dots of the halftoning is a low-quality scan.
Almost all mangos are low-quality scans, so where and how you view your low-quality scans makes little difference.

I've seen some torrent sites have this too, but what is it?
Why do some websites have these to begin with?
