I need to buy an android device to run an APK I compiled that connects and manages data on a remote server.
Since it needs to be online 24/7, I thought about getting a Android TV box, connect via ethernet, and just let it run in the corner.
I've never bought one of these boxes though, and I don't know if 1 GB RAM / "Quad core" is enough. The APK just runs and displays a text console with currently running server fetch operations/server stats.

If it's running anything at/after 4.4+ (Kitkat) you are going to want at least 2GB RAM. Especially if it's going to be on 24/7

I have a choice between a box that has KitKat, the other lollipop, both have 1GB RAM but the lollipop box has slightly better CPU.

I have not, whats a decent spec requirement for that? Would it run on a VPS well?

Also I just looked more into this and apperentlt bluestacks runs on Android 2 which is rediculously old.

Should be enough. I've had a Galaxy S3 with a broken screen running as a 24/7 webcam for about a year and it just werks.
