Does it matter where you install a SSD? I have a short sata cable and it can only stay on top of the PSU or thrown around on the bottom.

doesnt matter if its dangling or on a surface not fastened in, theres no moving parts, i wouldnt keep it on top of the psu tho, might get to hot

Stick it to something with sticky foam tape.

It matters if it falls off the SATA cable.

There's a reason data lines aren't routed near a power supply, Anon.
>>
You should buy a longer one or tape it to wall or something, the PSU is a bad place.
>>

DC can't cause interference, anon, as the frequency it induces is 0Hz.

You knew that, right?

>A psu only has DC circuits, and those DC circuits never cause spikes or RFI

Seriously?
>>

Maybe if you were installing the SSD inside the PSU?

Otherwise the case forms a Faraday cage, exactly as designed.

Which of course you knew, right?

>Equipment never malfunctions. All PSUs are equally brilliant and are all built to the same highest standards, even those built in Chinese sweat shops. In fact they're tremendous, they'll make your head spin.

Please stop, your killing me.

If your DC wires had all the shit you claim, induced current would be the least of your worries, because it could just interfere with your computing directly by going in through the direct electrical connection to the power supply for each and every chip in the computer.

That's why power supplies, all power supplies, supply clean DC: if they didn't, then the computer wouldn't work. That's why you never need to worry about currents induced by your own power supply.

If your DC rails had "spikes" on them, your computer would not work, regardless of where you put your SATA cable.

You knew that, right? You're not just doing damage control after being caught parroting a guideline for running cat5 and AC mains and not realising it doesn't apply in this context? Because that would be pretty pathetic. We're all anonymous here; you can just say you were wrong.
