Why does Bandicam lag so much when recording emulator footage? I've tried using the Lagarith codec, but my GBA and PS1 emulators still stutter even when Bandicam is just open without recording
post pc specs?.
I use Active Presenter and it works decent. I have an AMD Fx-8350, SSD and 16 GB ram though.
recording desktop activity while encoding and saving video will have a significant impact on gaming performance I'm sure.

Windows 8.1, GTX970, 16GB RAM, WD 2TB harddrive.
Thing is my laptop is older and weaker, but that managed to record emulator footage well enough with Fraps.

What CPU you got. But either way I suppose it's the software you're using.
Fraps is pretty reputable when it comes to screen recording. I'm guessing the reason is because it's just basically well programmed and optimized. usually bigger bloatier programs aren't as good as the simpler ones.
How come you aren't fraps anymore?. You want to try another program then until you run into one that is as efficient as fraps.
Also Have you tried encoding to mpeg2? what exactly are the specifics of the settings you're recording too?.
Are you doing full screen?. custom area?.

Intel Core i5 quadcore (3.00GHz I believe). Not at my desktop at the moment I'm afraid, so I can't provide that much in terms of specifics.
I switched from Fraps because it came down on the framerate harder when recording PC game footage, and the file sizes were bigger. I find Bandicam to be much better for regular game footage, but currently a pain for emulator footage.
Emulators are just in their default windowed mode.
