do i have to specify trackers when creating a torrent?
i'm not entirely sure how DHT works but shouldn't it get peers from there?

i just uploaded the torrent (without any trackers) to a torrent site 30 minutes ago so maybe there just aren't any real downloaders yet

All you have to do on private trackers is mark it "private".
Even if you don't, if the tracker uses Gazelle, it fixes it for you and has you re-download the torrent.
If it's a public tracker it really doesn't matter. Just add some trackers.
