Some time ago myanimelist used to include a list of available subs with a rating for every anime. Been a while since I downloaded anything but I see it's gone now. Has this list been hidden or something? Is there a site where I can see a recommended sub for a particular series? I get most of my stuff from nyaa if that matters.

I remember this as well, it was the only reason I used MAL. I will ask around a bit.
It's still there if you go on the anime's page. Just scroll to the bottom.

I think you have to be logged in now to be able to see them. Like >>204085 said, it's at the very bottom of an anime's page.

Eva's page for reference, since it should obviously have a bunch of subgroups. And a picture for further proof.
Not that it matters with fansub being dead

They tried hiding for everyone when they started doing partnerships with legal streaming sites, but eventually beought it back for registwred users
Fansubbing is dead m8. Everybody just watches simulcasts one way or another now. The day when a show could have 3 or 4 competing subgroups working on it is long, long gone.
All you can look forward to is groups doing BD batches of shows. Hardly anybody does movies or OVAs anymore except for random /a/nons.
It's still there, what are you talking about?
