Can I format my 1TB HDD and then move it to a new motherboard?

Can I format my 1TB HDD and then move it to a new motherboard?

Would I need to set the boot priority to the DVD Drive for the motherboard drivers?

(Boot priority wasn't working before trying to format)

if u format then the first thing u have to do is to install the OS. You can even put the new HDD without formatting if u already have another drive with the OS installed
