Are the games installed on a SSD, or HDD? Random, "out of nowhere" frame drops could be happening because the game's got to load more data, and you'd definitely experience this in an open world game like Borderlands. Basically, these games will load up little pieces of the world as you approach them, at a distance where you can't see the low-poly world clearly transform into full detail.

I looked it up myself -- evidently the PhysX optimization in Borderlands is just really, really shitty. Turning off PhysX took me from occasional drops to 40 to well over 120 FPS at all times. Thank you so much for the help, though.

No problem. As a guy who has historically used AMD GPUs, I know quite well how annoying PhysX can be. It's a shame that even for Nvidia users, PhysX frequently causes problems.
