I'm writing a story and I need to verify whether a certain aspect of it is actually plausible.
My character, fifteen years of age, was a political prisoner in a labor camp. As a result of this, they're malnourished and short. My question is, is it realistic for this character to grow in height after leaving prison and eating well?
Firstly, political prisoners under the age of 18 are rare. I can't realistically see a 15 year old being a political opponent of the government.
Also, growth is possible if the character got out at 15, but I doubt they would reach the same height as someone who was properly fed for their entire childhood.

No, absolutely not. See, for example, pre/post-WWII average heights, which were greatly affected by rationing during childhood.

The US held a number of prisoners at Guantanamo who were s young as 13

Not political prisoners though.

>someone who is put in prison for expressing disapproval of their own government, or for belonging to an organization, race, or social group not approved of by that government
I still find it hard to believe many 15 year olds are political opponents of the government.
sure it's possible. it's highly unlikely they'd go from 5 feet tall to 6'6" by the time they're 18 though.
