Certain antivirus specialize in different fields
For basic Malaware, PUPs, and Trojans, I highly recommend Malwarbytes anti malaware, It starts you off with a free trial of premium, but the free version is just as good too

Next for web security I recommend Avast, it's really never done anything for me other than block viruses and shit from coming into my computer through dangerous webpages. so I guess it's pretty good at that

for Trojans, EXE's, and stuff like that, AVG is probably your best bet, it can pick up on other shit too but its strong suit is definitely on Trojans.

ADWCleaner is a personal favorite, small file it's a basic EXE that cleans out Adware from your browsers and your PC, just scan, clean, and restart. it works like a charm

Next is Spyware, for that I recommend SuperAntiSpyware, it works really well against lots of Trojans, and PUPs but specializes in Spyware

Last but certainly not least. I can't stress this enough and I know you're gonna hate me for it. but seriously common sense is your best bet. I really don't ever use antivirus but I torrent like crazy and download things all the time. I've only had 1 major virus attack though and thats just because I'm very careful with what I download and what sites I go to. anyways wish you luck man peace

One more thing I forgot to mention, I'd stay away from Premium and popular antivirus, most viruses are made to get past those popular ones, and they're mostly just a money-grab anyways. not saying they don't work, but they can be really really annoying
