Hey wsr. I asked this on /po/, but that board is slow as shit, so I figured I might ask it on here as well.
Is it worthwhile for a complete beginner to buy a stack of origami paper, or should I just use lined writing paper/standard printing paper instead?

Yes. It's really cheap. You can get it in Daiso, Poundland, etc.
Or you can just look on eBay for "Origami square 14.5cm"
>should I just use lined writing paper/standard printing paper instead?
No, that's retarded. For starters, you'll have to use the skills you don't yet have to make the rectangular paper into a square.

Thanks anon. Will do. Any recommended tutorials/yt channels/websites/etc.?
there is absolutely nothing wrong with regular paper

Anon, how the fuck would I need "folding skills" to make a rectangle into a square?

You're right, anon.
It's so easy an abject beginner could do it.
When starting out, you should always use the worst tools available, as this will increase the challenge and therefore fun.
OP should definitely buy paper that costs the same and is the wrong size.

Not that I'd buy printer paper to do origami, but I'd use up what I already have. I'm not in any rush to become an expert folder. It's fairly simple to turn a blank sheet of printer paper into a square. Again, I'm not buying printer paper specifically for origami, just using up all the printer paper I have until I run out (which shouldn't be too much time.)
