I really like pic related's atmosphere, but don't really like the fact that it's an open world survival game. Any PC horror games you can suggest that have similar setting and atmosphere, but are linear and story-driven instead of being another incarnation of Minecraft?
Also, I'd prefer if the game wasn't too scary. Sure, it's a horror game, so it's obvious it has to scare me in some way, but I'd rather have something that's creepy, keeps me on edge, and gives me chills rather than a heart attack right on the spot. I hope you know what I mean.
And last but not least, no jumpscares. I'd like the game to be scary by its soundwork, imagery, and atmosphere being utilized in creative ways, rather than by ugly faces jumping in front of the screen and obnoxiously loud sounds being played right into my ear.
Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.

dunno that game but maybe try:
portal, until dawn, outlast, half life 2, the last of us, journey, superbrothers: sword & sworcery,
Try Alan Wake and Firewatch (kinda fits)

OP here. How much is "kinda" in this case?

Its not a horror game, but if someone had a vivid imagination I can see them scaring themselves by fleshing out the mysterious antagonist in their heads.
Its largely a drama/mystery type game.
