They are all infuriating though.

In IBO battles have little to no meaning because the show is very poorly written. At most, they are there for a character to die. Season one wasn't quite as bad for this, but season two felt particularly aimless.

Akito was just terrible. The last 2 eps especially. You think it will end with an epic brother on brother duel, but it's a one sided affair that lasts WAY the fuck too long just to get the point across of how superior one is over the other. Then it ends with a suicide pact and gypsy life.

Thunderbolt's problem is mostly related to episode length and pretty much mandating at least an action scene an ep. So, sometimes we get cool shit like the psycho vs thunderbolt as the culmination of hatred between two pilots, but then we later get atlas on reentry just to show it being badass only to get wrecked an ep later.

Recent mecha anime really needs better writing and pacing.

In the old days of WHFB you could have a wizard with Mark of Khorne (you lost a magic level) or have Mark of Khorne and be gifted a magic level (Realm of Chaos books even acknowledge this, saying it's more of a curse than a gift). Wizards and psykers summon Khorne daemons and command them, even though Khorne worshipers tend to hunt down and kill enemy wizards and psykers. World Eaters even had librarians, though their function was changed.

Khorne psykers and wizards are rare and for the most part despised, but they are not an impossibility and acting like it is and would never happen is erroneous.
