what the hell
>>1709858
From the movie Sunshine.
The Sun is dying and the crew of a spaceship must deliver a nuclear payload to restart the fission chain.
In this scene, they are repairing the shield at the front of the ship which protects against the extreme emissions that occur at such a short distance from the sun.
Without the repairs, the shield will fail and the ship will be vaporized. They tilted the shield so that the damaged piece was shaded for safe repairs. Tilting the shield caused direct rays from the sun to reflect off of a comms tower and destroy part of the ship.
Having sensed destruction caused by manual override, the ship's nav system overrides the controls and begins to counter the tilt of the shield. Captain Kaneda orders the other crew member back and stays behind to finish the job before the shield is fully immersed in sunlight.
Because the shield is being forcefully returned to standard position, Kaneda had to stay and finish the repairs knowing that he wouldn't have enough time to retreat behind the shield. Kaneda finishes repairs and the shield reaches fill coverage. He is vaporized much to the dismay of the crew.

Everytime Searle asks "Kaneda, what do you see?" I get shivers down my spine.

This movie was such a massive disappointment. But then again, there was a time in my life when I was making a living by teaching kids how to sail, so it's a given movie sailing is going to be disappointing.
Either way, the sheer incompetence of Old Man is the very reason he is in danger throughout the whole story.
My head canon is that he's a terminal cancer patient, but still didn't decide if he really wants to kill himself or try to live some more, hence the whole struggle. This is the only way to make his brain-dead decisions and lack of even most basic precautions anyone makes when sailing alone bearable.

This is an upper incisor, you moron. They don't behave like that and there is barely pulp inside of them, since they are fucking incisors. That goes without mentioning the obvious fact that no human tooth is going to gush blood like a broken artery.
I get it, the movie apparently runs on medical horror, but it won't make it any less retarded. Medical horror works as long as it matches reality even at a slightest, instead being a random hotch-potch of elements piled together.
Oh, and those straps to keep his mouth open? They are designed for kids below age of 10, since anyone older has enough jaw strenght and muscle tension to break free from them.
And before you ask - no, I'm not a dentist. But shit like this makes me laugh at best, cringe at worse.

>Easy tier
Download a .webm. Open it with just about any software designed for movies. The meta-data title will pop out instantly, even if you are using a hand-held or a phone.
>Intermidiate tier
Download a .webm. Open it with notepad. At the very top, the only words (instead of random signs and obvious data gibberish) are going to be what was put in meta-data. Meaning the title. This LOOKS hard, but doesn't even require a movie playing software installed on your device.

God, what a waste they don't hire her to do 2-5 movies a year. She has both the skills and looks for a movie star, but apparently it's her fault the movies she played in didn't made 20 times their budget, so Hollywood ditched her and she's doing roles in small-ass movies (good ones, but small) ever since.

My biggest - for lack of better word - problem with "The Girl with All the Gifts" was Paddy Considine playing career NCO, Stg. Parks. To this day I'm trying to figure out what the fuck Leopold saw in Kate. She's rude, she's brash, she constantly whines about everything and most importantly, is so bitterly cynical she's simply unbearable with her constant "LIFE IS PAIN, HURRR! WALLOW IN SUFFERING DURRR!".
That toaster scene, for example. Her acceptance to the fact she can't even eat a half-decent breakfast, combined with "BUT THAT'S HOW LIFE IS!" and then followed with all the fucking whining simply paints her as utterly incapable of doing anything else than constatly whining.
And then she goes back to late 19th century New York, because that's a place where she's going to improve her life. Probably by dying on pneumonia at the ripe age of 40.

The movie is so bad, it's fucking horrible. This is literally one of the worst films made in past few years and that alone should told you how utterly awful it is. You could trim out 45 minutes out of it and you would lost absolutely nothing for the story, that's how horrible the editing and pacing is.
But then again, it's made by the one-hit-wonder Refn, who still thinks of himself and acts like it was straight after Drive's success, having an imaginary career of world-famous director in his head, which producing one shitty movie after another.

Tell me about it. The very opening chase in Fury Road managed to fuck up the franchise with Not!Max surviving a fucking car explosion and following tumbling as if nothing happend. And it only went downhill from there.
The title should be Mad Max: In Name Only. For Christ sake, the very essence of Mad Max was the avoidance of the unkillable hero cliche. How the fuck you want to build tension in a movie, when you open it with a scene that basically says "it's ok, this guy can survive everything"? It's the same shit as in the 4th Indiana Jones movie - you are expect to be afraid about Indy's well-being when he punches some Russian next to an anthill, while in first 20 minutes he SURVIVED A FUCKING NUCLEAR EXPLOSION.
I deny to believe Miller actually wrote the script and he simply gave up after so many years to Warner Bros. execs. They've already turned Thunderdome in piece of shit with their "advices" and studio-appointed supervisor, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same shit with Fury Road.

Miller said each Mad Max film is suppose to be from the perspective of different tribal legends. They ended the second and third movie with this tribal chief narration but failed to with Fury Road which bugs me. But it explains the inconsistencies of each story. So basically he's kind of a post-apocalyptic Australian Paul Bunyan story being told around a camp fire.
I agree that the Max storyline was disappointing and they should have let Tom Hardy make it his own but the movie itself was still pretty fun. The universe/setting was every bit as amazing as the other ones if not better and the Furiosa storyline was great. Stop trying so hard to be whiny film-buff hipsters and just enjoy the movie.

>>1726091
Oh, I can totally see someone thinking especially 4 onwards are complete shit, actually.
Something about 4 and 5 in particular is just striking. For the lack of better words, I'd call those the demented vision of Paul W.S. Anderson. It's basically exactly the movie he wanted to make (sans a few budget issues, especially in 5), which is incredibly interesting to observe.
Also, stupid talk about film-worth aside, they're just enjoyable in a weird way. Not ironic "haha so dumb" which is something I can't stand, there's just something about it that's rather entertaining.
Plus, it has that amazing scene choreographed by Reuben Langdon.

>>1729004
I don't like pointless actions, and the hero's action are pointless until the very end, and even then, he acts foolishly. But I might be an idiot, the film is often described as a masterpiece.
>>1729021
That's why I don't look at reviews or look for other peoples opinions, save a few that I know in person, on a movie before I've seen it myself. It creates a sense of hype, or some kind of expectation that I go in with and am usually disappointed because of, and whether the film is a masterpiece or what-not, I'll decide for myself.
I'll give a recommendation to someone who asks but I think that as long as a film entertains and engages me, on some level, then it's worth watching.
I never analyze or be critical, on my first watch, I just watch it and when I've seen the end, I look at what I've watched and judge on what it made me think or feel.

and then
>Fury Road
>Survives car explosion in opening 2 minutes of the film, from which he instantly gets up; shit only goes more retarded from there; anything after the sand-storm is his dying dream, because otherwise he would have to start bending laws of physics.
Max went from anti-thesis to being text-book example of invincible guy that shrugs away any sort of damage he can sustain, without getting slower, weaker or in any way imparied.
What makes it so much annoying is the fact it's not a remake/reboot made by random nobody Hollywood hired for the project, but fucking George Miller himself turning the series into a mockery of itself with such antics. I couldn't bother any less with the whole "le evil feminism maymay" bullshit (in fact, it was pretty solid), but what killed the movie for me was the fact Max was literally unkillable and you never, ever feel any form of endangerment throughout the entire fucking movie, despite all those chases, shooting, explosions and more explosions.
The movie is simply dead on the emotional side. A long, thrill-less ride through desert that literally goes in circle, but can't make you for a single second even assume anyone can die or suffer. In a 4th installment to series build on lack of certainity. A lot happens during those two hours, but none of it makes you question the fact Max will succeed, survive and be fine.
>>1730086

>>1733797
Let's be blunk. All the bad things that happen to him are his own god-damn fault, almost entirely based on the fact he only makes 1st step for all his emergency situations, but never the following ones.
His hull has hole but he still can sail? Well, why not sail aimlessly to nowhere (that's why I assume he's suicidal).
Called for help (with SOS, instead of pan-pan)? Surely, don't even bother with making it easier for rescue team and still sail aimlessly.
Storm (a real, naval one, not storm as some rainy weather) is coming? Well, who needs storm sails prepared before, surely you want to try to switch them in the middle of storm (trust me, that's close to impossible with experienced crew, and here we have a single guy)
Storm is raging around? Surely, let's try to fight it (you can't) instead of making sure your badly patched hole is not leaking further.
And the completely separate subject is the utterly convoluted way the hole is patched. It's literally one of the worst ways to do it and it doesn't even take experience or training to realise that.
In short - a lot of things go to shit, because Old Man apparently doesn't bother with making sure he will survive any of the hardships he encounters. Hence the suicidal/terminal patient interpretation
