I'm happy so far with how tame they've been. I was afraid they were going to go full on, but they aren't throwing out what made the original show to add stuff like real violence. We got like 3 things that the original wouldn't have gotten away with so far. The arrow to the eye, the actual bodies in the town the assassin said he decimated, and toddler punching. None of it felt out of place and going for "Ow, the edge!" and the entire fight with the assassin felt strait out of the original.

I doubt they've ever seen snow before, so that probably had something to do with it. Slowing movements, disorienting them, etc.
Their first attack was a sneak attack, and Jack probably didn't even know he was outnumbered 7-1 at first.
Lastly, they probably never expected Jack to launch a sneak attack. He was pretty straight forward in confronting enemies in the past...future...fuck.
They were also down one member and throwing their rhythm off.
