Because the song's lyrics are about exactly the thing depicted, and the harsh sound enhances the mood and brings out the emotion far better than a softer music choice. Not to mention metal and Finnish mythical imagery (especially this particular one) and mentality go together perfectly.

Also, there is no real "gondola like" music other than some vague "anything that evokes a feeling" definition. All kinds of genres have been used in these videos, some being extremely different from each other, I don't see this as any different.

It makes me think of summer. Particularly when I was younger. I lived next to a neighbor who used to have loud parties all the time.

Second. It just gives me a sense of community. Kind of like an alone together feeling. I don't know about you, but I don't get along with my neighbors well enough to expect them to invite me to a party. It was my first time making a webm so it took me some effort. I first looked up an image on google, used Paint.NET to draw the Gondola, downloaded Windows Movie Maker and added the music. Movie maker didn't read the mp3 so I converted it to a .wav. Finally I converted the video from .mp4 to webm with an online converter.

The swan is the Swan of Tuonela, who swims in the black river of death in the mythological underworld, Tuonela (hence the original filename). Which is what I meant with "very specific setting". The swan is supposed to draw your attention and make you identify the setting (and its implications) before you consider the gondola itself.

That's the motivation for the original song choice as well by the way: Moonsorrow's "Kuolleiden Maa" ("Land of the Dead") is using the imagery of a nuclear wasteland as a rather obvious allusion to Tuonela, and is heavy on introspection and observing the state of the world and oneself in it.

Listened to the Untrue album when I had to walk a few miles back home once from uni. It was pretty late, pitch black and I walked through some shitty neighborhoods but Burial made the occasion oddly comforting.
