I literally finished the series last night and that ending had me drained of emotion. I hope the film is at least half as good as the books.

Pretty positive the movie is taking place after/before the books. Like, obviously from the books Roland has been through this adventure before and will continue taking part in it until he gets things right/wins the day. So the movie is either a previous run through of trying to get to the Tower, or it will take place after the timeline of the books, hopefully with Roland still have the Horn and knowing what to do this time.
