I like it, this is what i've done.

Rainmeter is a safe program but don't listen to the newfags in this thread. It's cancer and takes up too much power. There's much better things you can do that don't clutter up your desktop.
>>
>>6738264
>takes up too much power

nigguh time to upgrade your toaster, rainmeter isn't hard to run at all.
>>
>>6738273
Nice try buddy. I'm not saying it takes away from the performance of my computer. It takes more power than its worth to run. It's just clusters up the desktop.
>>
>>6738264
For example look at this desktop
>>6738257
Actually trash.
>>
>>6738617
Post yours then.

So I guess that 1% is more than a full system monitor, music player, weather display, and calendar is worth. My CPU isn't even fantastic, the one I had prior to this one was a budget piece 5 years ago and it ran at like 3%.

>>6738630
Post it in a bit. Not at computer right now

This is my current setup. That window in the middle isn't normally open, I just had it open at the time.

That's... not impressive in the least.
I cant believe I tried to listen your opinion.

what are some good clean RM skins for a newb to try out?
>>

Sauce?
>>
>>6739357
then why have a desktop at all, anon?
>>
>>6738871
That's not what he means you faggot
>>
Rainmeter is a decent program.
Helped my ass at times.
A nice peripheral to the UI.
Doesnt get in the way of other programs.

Get it, OP.

As far as skins go, the site I went to is now blocked by Chrome unless you tell them explicitly that you will download any skin from it.
Chrome doesn't like .rms files from customize.org, and assumes they are malicious.
They aren't.
But you can go to DevArt for skins as well.

As for which ones are good or clean, is up to you to decide. Preference and all that.
I rocked the Circular theme for a while, but then transitioned to the Enigma skin.
>>
>>6738615
>it just clusters up the desktop
Then you're just shit at configuring it
>>
>>6740952
so what does he mean?
>>
>>6741073
you have a really nice car, it uses 50 gallons per mile.
you have all the money in the world.
Sure, you can pay for that gas. yeah, its a really nice car. but holy fuck anon using 50 gallons per mile is inefficient as fuck.
i hope this exaggeration helped you understand.
>>
>>6740716
Because I'm too lazy to get rid of it.
>>
>>6741065
Entirely false.
Having even a minute bit of text on my desktop looks cluttered.
Examples include, every desktop in this thread except mine.

>takes up too much power.
Not true unless you're running something with a known memory leak.
I don't see any real use for rainmeter, it doesn't do what I want out of ricing a desktop.
>>
>>6741082
How does that change what was said earlier? If I can get a full system monitor, music player, weather ect. for less than 3% usage, how is that "too much power"? it's not, unless you're a bitch.
>>
>>6741255
I don't understand what being a bitch has to do with striving for efficiency but i'm sure you have an explanation. Since you don't understand the analogy i'll try to explain again: rainmeter as an overlay should take next to nothing to run, next to nothing being less than 1% but optimally damn near 0%. Kind of how task manager can run on even the most shit tier rigs at less than 1% usage? So yeah, 3% is not much but when the expected is 3 to 2 times less you can see how we see that as inefficient. It's still good, but it could be way better.
>>
>>6741202
can you poast dat background pls?
>>
>>6741202
That's another reason I don't use it. But that felt too subjective to use as a reason for others to not use it. I also used to use a context menu, but I determined I dislike using the mouse, so I just run everything off of a run like program.
>>
>>6741200
So...
you're shit at configuring it then?
>>
>>6741432
Explaining it like that is better than your car explanation, I'll give you that, I didn't quite understand your first one. Keep in mind though that that 3% was with a full system monitor, music player, search bar, several widgets and system shortcuts, a calendar, weather, just about everything you can imagine. So if 3%, on a shitty system 5 years ago, is too much for that, then I've really got no idea what your mindset could be.
