Afternoon guys.
Myself and a friend went in on a job lot of Sony PVM's and as he's collected them, he's decided which of the two he wants for himself and I have to make do with the other two.
I'm completely uneducated in the specifics of the model differences, and to be truthful my knowledge of the specifics of RGB or YPbPr is non-existent.

The 4 models collected are 14L4, 14N6E, 1440QM, and 1444QM.
He has taken the first two for himself. Am I missing out there?
I'm equally financially invested in this so should there be anything I should be aware of before just agreeing?

Using them with PAL consoles with relevant BNC adapters.

Thanks for your help in advance.
>>
I don't see why you wouldn't post this in the /crt/ general. I'd have answered, there.
>>
I would have - Google brings up an archive post from this forum.
Also I'm exclusively using it for retro gaming too so figured it fit.
Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
>>

>14L4
only multiformat so go with that. 14 is kind small but its ok for a small setup.
>>
>>4246235
The L4 is NOT multiformat, genius.

Let him post again pls, he'll find the right thread if he wants it badly enough.
>>
>>4246242
it's in the /vr/ forum, search the catalog for crt - >>4245763
>>
>>4246242
oh its not? good save >>4246216
Well op they're all shit.
>>
>>4246252
OMFG they are not all shit either.
>>
Jesus why are some people such screeching autists about which forum it's in?
Dude has posted in /vr/ cuz he wants to play retro on the screens.

I'm no help brother, but hopefully someone can help.
>>
You're not missing out on anything you'll be sad about. The 1440 lacks analog adjustments but that probably doesn't matter that much to you. I probably would have still chosen it since it actually has a scart port on it (but no RGB BNC). The 14L4 was the nicest one though, with support for Y/Pb/Pr and expansion slots. I have a feeling neither of you will/would have ever used either of those features though.
>>
>>4246339
Thanks for that, man.
Will be hooking up (through splitter possibly) PAL NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1.

Would I even need use of both 1440QM and 1444QM?
Guessing there's VERY marginal difference between the two?

And right there you lose me completely...
I'm just a guy who knows very little about these, and has been fortunate enough to get hold of one cheaply!

Since posting been told he plans on selling me just 1...
>>
>>4246404
After you paid for half of the lot? WTF? I mean. him claiming first choice is reasonable since he picked them up. Taking second choice is a bit much but taking 3/4 of the lot is probably straight up illegal. That having been said, the difference between the 1444 and the 1440 is that the 1444 accepts US style "component" video but the 1440 has an actual scart jack.

>durrrrr I'm not even going to read it lol xd totally lost
Yeah your friend realized what a useless cunt you are so now you only get one.

Kek. Harsh but true.

Inb4 anon gets nothing and has to pay the other guy's half plus his fuel.
>>
>>4246404
Why don't you just ask your friend for advice on what to pick? Is it cause you know he's just gonna scam you harder?
>>
>>4246418
Yeah, nah, kinda made it clear I don't understand the details of the spec between the two. Poor attempt - try harder.

>>4246428
I'm bummed out it's not the straight split it was - so at the same time as not wanting to be ungrateful, am cautious as to what the outcome might be.

Plan was initially to split half.
Now he's paying for the lot and I'm buying one hella cheap.
Can't be too mad, but dead split in cost and profit would've been nice.
>>
>>4246483
He probably checked online what they sell for and got greedy. He's gonna keep the best of the three for himself and will sell the other two for some sweet, sweet, profit.

Don't be mad - you don't really need more than 1 (especially if they're all the same size) anyway, unless you're the type who hoards hardware "just in case".
>>

>14 inch

Some people are just so desperate to fall for the PVM/BVM meme.
>>
>>4246635
27" CRTs are pretty unwieldy if you don't own a house. 13-14" is great for smaller dwellings or desk rigs.
>>
>>4246635
Yeah, and that size is too small to even see the benefits of RGB anyway. Completely defeating the point entirely.
>>
This thread is hilarious because OP doesn't know how to use Google and his "friend" is taking advantage of him pretty hard. Look, if you paid for half and there's 4 of them then let him take first pick and you get second.
>>
>>4247141
Damn you must be blind, Man. Either that or you're sitting too far away. Maybe both.
>>
You will be able to see everything in a 14" screen as well as a 27" screen, just sit closer. The difference is that it takes you out of the action more, not that you can see more things on a 27".

You gotta be brave now. Autism has nothing to do with it. They are literally stupid, dumb creatures, below average IQ etc etc

14 inch is plenty big enough if you're sitting at a desk

>>4246216
>which one?
Test them all and go with the one with the best picture/no burn in/no colour abberation
No point in taking the 'best' one if it's burnt to shit. Take console with 240p test rom on a flashcart and put them all through their paces.
