The conclusion isn't that we're in a dream. That has been already stated in TP multiple times, the whole TP starts with Coop and Laura meeting in the room. The conclusion isn't the fact that life is but a dream, which again, it also isn't any kind of spoiler for LA, and not the conclusion of it. If you haven't watched the TP finale yet, don't worry, you weren't spoiled.

Yeah it's a known fact Twin Peaks was one of the main influences on LA, mainly because at the time of the development (1992 or so), the series was not only hugely successful in USA and Europe, but in Japan too.
The original LA devs said on an interview that they intentionally made the NPCs to be weird and suspicious because they wanted to emulate the strange vibe in Twin Peaks.
And also many other symbolic stuff like the owl (which first appeared here, and not on OOT, although they're different owls), or how Link arrived to Koholint carried by the water at the shore, just like Laura's body when TP starts.

You can say that, but it's not that simple. The "dream" is a way they explain the parallel universe thing. The world is a dream because it's part of a bigger unexplainable cosmic picture with alternate timelines, spirit worlds inside electricity, and godlike beings.

I have a theory about the ending. Cooper and Diane went into another timeline where he replaced Richard and Linda similarly as he did with Dougie. He then seeked out Laura and tried to fix the Palmer family by taking her back home, possibly so the Black Lodge wouldn't be able to feed on their Garmonbozia anymore. But it turned out that they actually were inside a manufactured world created by the Mother (the electric poles they used to move between worlds shared the same shape as the Mother on Hawk's map. When Cooper questioned a fault in the world ("what year is it?"), the world ceased to exist. Or maybe the Mother's darkness revealed itself and ate Cooper and Fake Laura.
